Running Obsession

For my birthday this year, Michael and Karalee got me a nike+ sensor. It turned out to be great. I've been using it in earnest for the past week or so and love it. It records your runs, then uploads it to the nike plus website. Then, it can auto update your twitter or facebook page if you like.

It really has gotten me out of the door and running...there is something about being able to see your results and progress that makes you want to do more.

Unfortunately, my ipod has crashed twice after recording runs, and I lost the run data....fortunately i was able to remember the time and distance, so I was able to use the nikeplusedit.com website to gin up a file to replace it...I promise I will only use it for good.

Fashion Show

This Friday, Karalee came up with an idea to do our own version of Project Runway. Madison was our model, and we each designed an outfit, and had to sew it from scratch. Here is Madison in all her modeling glory....

Quicken for Mac Update for September 2009

This is an extremely geeky post...

Since getting a Mac two years ago, I have been extremely happy....except for one area....Financial software. I really liked Microsoft Money....but there is not a version for Mac. so, I moved to Quicken for Mac 2007. It has been frusterating using that for a couple reasons....1)investment account info imports in a weird way and takes lots of manual work 2) Sharebuilder and Paypal are not supported for direct download 3) The graphs and reports look a little rough.

So I was excited last year when they announced Quicken for Mac....of course it kept getting delayed, and I kept waiting.....now it is announced for Feb 2010. I went to the Quicken blog tonight to check out the progress, and saw this entry.

It is extremely lame that the program is only going to track balances and won't track buys and sells. That creates so many problems when trying to keep all your accounts straight.

More Activities

We are on a blogging roll.....

So after the trip to Europe, not a lot of stuff going on...The girls are getting bigger and bigger. Scarlett has started making funny compound sentences...."I want some chocolate, because I want some chocolate." and "I like it, a this one." She also throws the word "actually" around a lot.

Madison has started learning how to play the piano...Karalee has been nice enough to give her lessons on Fridays.

So the big highlight of August was my 31st birthday. And it was the best one ever...Madison made me a great drawing....Kim got me some sun glasses...Michael and Karalee got me a Nike iPod adapter...and my mom shippped me a package that included Wii Sports Resort and some new Wii controllers... But the best of all was that Kim sprung me a surprise party with the guys from work....apparently she and Nuzu had been secretly planning it for weeks...I had asked Nuzu to try and find a resort to go to that weekend, but she kept saying that they were all full, or that the cheapest room was 550 USD. then, on Friday, Kim booked me a massage appointment, and was really anxious for me to leave on time...then when I got back, there everyone was....it was great. Even busted out the new Wii Controllers and played a little Wii Tennis....Madison beat us all.

Thanks again for the great party Kim and Nuzu!

Catch Up - Madison's Birthday and European Vacation

Whenever Kim does a blog post, I seem to always do one immediately after. so here it goes...

Again, we are going to have catch up for a few months of not posting. I've got a pictures in here to Show what we have been up to.

First Up, Madison's Birthday celebration. This year, Madison had a beautiful birthday party done by Kim. It was a restaurant theme and the kids really enjoyed it. As usual, Kim made a beautiful set up.

After her party, which was a few days early, we finally took a trip to Europe. First Stop London...It was pretty neat. We stayed near Grosvenor Square, which was near lots of old stuff, and lots of shopping! We also were lucky enough to spend time with friends of ours who had been in the Maldives...we celebrated Madi's actual birthday with them at their place outside of London...Madison thinks that we went all the way to London just so that she could see her friend for her birthday...

One morning we went to KFC for breakfast. After ordering out "Breakfast Sandwich", some guy wanders up to us and asks us to fill out a survey about the food....So yes, if the sandwich we ate ever comes to America, and has the perfect amount of Sausage flavor, it is probably because KFC adjusted the recipe based on our feedback.

Second Story...Two kids on a train heading outside of London to a place we have never been. The train stops at our stop, we get up, go to the door, and it never opens....then the train pulls away. Apparently you have to push this little button to make the door open....why can't it just automatically open like everywhere else? fortunately, I had my 3G iPhone with GPS, so I knew where we were...we eventually made it to where we were going.

Oh, also Hyde park opened up several firsts for us...First time for Scarlett to see a dog. First time for Scarlett to see more than 20 square feet of grass. First time to see a queen's horseman ride through the street.

Last comment about London.....EXPENSIVE!!!!!! stuff is about 50% more expensive there....

After London we went to France to see Roland, Nahid, and the girls. We had a lovely time, and the girls really enjoyed playing with their Aunts. My favorite part was when I left early.....no not like that....because Grandma and Grandpa were nice enough to let Kim come with me and spend a day in Paris with me as I had to leave early to get back to work. We had such a fun time! КИМ, Я ТЕБЯ ЛЮБЛЮ!!!!

As you can see from the pics, the trip home for the girls was very tiring.

I'm now tired....had a great Ramadan breaking of the fast earlier, now ready to head to bed.
